Creating in my studio one day I’m feeling super happy. I look around me and say to Matt, "you know what I’m ready for these paintings to go now." With a grand sweep of my arms I point to the paintings on the walls and say, "They can all go to someone else who will love them now”. And then we got on with our day.
Two weeks later I get an email. I have an old website that no one has ever contacted me through. The email says “I found your artwork on your website. I love one of your pieces. I was hoping it might be for sale.” I have to check the website because I’m not even sure what art is on there. It’s one of the pieces from my grand declaration. I smile to myself. So what to charge? I have no idea. Something will come to me I’m sure.
The lady comes around, she loves it and decides to take it. She has a bundle of cash and offers to pay a really great rate. I don’t have to think twice. So easy. Then she says, “But I’d like these two as well. Can I get them in a week and I’ll pay cash.” I say “sure”, laughing on the inside. I love how this works.
Over the next few weeks she decided to take another, then another. In the end she took all eight pieces and she was so happy. I didn’t advertise. I didn’t go anywhere. I made no effort at all apart from letting her in and taking payment. And her delight with the artwork made it such a pleasure to give them to her.
WIN WIN. Those are the best manifestations.
